How the figures are made

Net Salary World runs one engine per country and tax year. Every rate and threshold comes from a listed source, and each engine has to reproduce a set of test cases before its pages go live.

How each country's official rules are followed

United Kingdom
Income tax bands, the personal allowance and its taper above £100,000, and National Insurance thresholds come from HMRC's published rates for the tax year that starts on 6 April. Scotland has its own bands, and the figures are annual, like the tax itself.
Germany
Wage tax follows the Programmablaufplan that the Federal Ministry of Finance publishes each year for payroll software, including the solidarity surcharge and church tax. Social insurance uses that year's contribution rates and ceilings.
Netherlands
The regular monthly payment uses the Belastingdienst's official white wage-tax table; holiday pay and a 13th month use the special-payment table, as a Dutch payslip does.
Canada
Federal and provincial tax, CPP or QPP and EI follow CRA's T4127 payroll formulas and Revenu Québec's TP-1015.F. The formulas reproduce CRA's T4032 tables, and the paycheque tool matches results captured from CRA's own payroll calculator to the cent.
Australia
Resident tax rates, the low income tax offset, the Medicare levy and HELP repayments come from the ATO; the super guarantee is shown separately from take-home pay.
Spain
IRPF withholding uses the Tax Agency's algorithm for the year and matches the Agency's own withholding service in all 210 reference cases; Social Security follows that year's contribution order.

When a value could not be confirmed with an official source, the page shows a note beside the line it affects. Each country's methodology page lists the assumptions behind the default result, and every correction is dated in the change log.
